ABOUT
Jang Wook Choi is currently a Professor in the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Seoul National University.
He obtained his BS degree from the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Seoul National University and Ph.D. degree from California Institute of Technology in 2007 in the area of molecular electronics and electrochemistry. He conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University in the field of lithium‐ion batteries from 2008 to 2010. He started his independent research career as Assistant Professor at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2010 and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2013. He was relocated to Seoul National University in 2017 and was promoted to Professor in 2019. His research programs cover materials design, cell diagnosis, and degradation mechanisms for lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries.
He received numerous prestigious awards, including Young Scientist Award from the President of Korea, Hong Jinki Creative Man Award from the Yumin Foundation, and, Highly Cited Researcher (HCR) recognition from Clarivate Analytics (2017~2022).
He has also served as a Director of the Board for SES AI, a battery company listed in Nasdaq and Director of the Hyundai Motors Group-Seoul National University Joint Battery Research Center (HMG-SNU JBRC). In addition, he has conducted many collaborations with industry partners including Hyundai Motors Company, Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solutions, SK On, Posco, Ecopro, etc.
